Water Holds Memory depicts the artifacts of my personal memories. Informed by the centuries-old divination ritual Molybdomancy (lead-pouring in water), and the physics theory on water retaining the memory, I allow the water to shape the wax, creating amorphous forms. Nebulous wax-forms stimulate free association and recall memories as in the inkblot test. This work is a psychological quest of shaping formlessness and solidifying the informal. Beeswax, water, and found objects form my installations and sculptures to shape my memories
In the Water Holds Memory series, I collaborate with water, an unstable medium that makes the piece grow in unexpected ways, pushing me to meditate on the idea of control, chance operations, and how the universe works.
